Here is the chaff


This is the second part of the work, the chaff or carvings out from the clay tablets. They were as much Juana's name as the cuneiform incisions I thought. I have wanted in this work to suggest something about the precious and irreplaceable. Here's what I came up with.

Beautiful concept. To me it says that what we leave behind is as precious and important as what we physically are. It's fascinating seeing this poem/artwork emerging.

Really enjoyed your reading and conversation in Dumfries this week. I liked what you said about the role of speech in poetry, it really is the human voice, isn't it?
